Main content of all websites should not keep more than six (6) months worth of content except for some categories.
PRE-WORK
Before deleting content, re-date all Legacy content to any date within the last six (6) months. This will prevent the Legacy content from being deleted when you delete content in bulk.
- Go to “Posts” on the menu on the left side.
- Go to “All dates” downdown. Choose the month / year. Press Filter. All posts published on the chosen month / year will display on the table.
- Go to each of the posts. Hover your cursor on the post title to display the “Quick Edit” link.
- Change the date by pressing “Quick Edit” to display “Quick Edit” form.
- Change the Date. You can ignore the time.
- Press “Update”.
- Change the next post by repeating Step 3 onwards until all Legacy content are updated.
DELETE PAST 6 MONTH CONTENT
- Go to “Posts” on the menu on the left side.
- Go to “All dates” downdown. Choose the month / year. Press Filter. All posts published on the chosen month / year will display on the table.
- Check how many pages of content that needs to be deleted.
- Choose the posts by bulk by clicking on the checkbox beside the “Title” header column. It should put check across all the displayed content.
- Delete the posts by going to “Bulk Action” dropdown, choose “Move to Trash” and press “Apply”. Once page 1 is deleted, the content of page 2 should move to page 1.
- Delete the other remaining pages by repeating Step 4 onwards until all content undet that month / year is deleted.
- Delete all the rest of the content from another date by repeating Step 2 onwards.
